Party on the Pitch Extravaganza
You know a small rural village is onto a good thing when it can command over 2000 people to spend their weekend on a rugby field surrounded by nothing more than trees, shrubs and hills. Indeed its a great achievement and an insight into how popular a well-run and successful event can be.
Tycroes, nestled tightly within the picturesque Betws Mountains in Carmarthenshire, is the home to the annual extravaganza known as ‘Party on the Pitch’ and unlike many similar overrated or misleading concepts, this one provides exactly what the name suggests; a fun-filled and action-packed party on a pitch.
Organised and run by committee members and dedicated volunteers of the village’s Rugby Club, Party on the Pitch is about to embark on its third outing this June headlined by X-Factor finalist Lucie Jones, who succeed’s last year’s foot-thumping finale by 80′s star Chesney Hawkes.
Marketed as offering ‘something for everyone’, the bumper weekend truly does; beginning with the Friday night boxing exhibition in a marquee to satisfy the action-cravings of sports fans, Saturday offers many features designed to satisfy all ages including a large fully-functioning outside bar for the adults to ease their stress. Additionally The KidsZone is a magical area filled with fun & entertainment to delight children & parents alike. With a dedicated and talented crew, this area is sure to provide families with a great time.
As Well as the KidZone there will also be Face Painting, Magicians, Bouncy Castles, Airbrush Tattoos and many other attractions including inflatable slides, trampolines, Wii Challenge’s, and an improved Fair Ground area to add to the many food stalls (the Hog roast always popular) to keep the revellers going the day easily merges into night without ever having to leave the party.
Rounded of by what many may consider a hidden highlight, notorious Welsh hash-smuggler Howard Marks completes the weekend with his comic recollections of a noteworthy life. Party on the Pitch is a testament to the organisers and the annual event has truly increased the village’s status as more than just the gateway to the M4.
Tickets are available through numerous outlets for £10 adults, (£5 children 12-16 and £3 under 12′s) and are selling quick therefore it is recommended to pick them up soon so to not miss out on the place to be this June 19th. More information can be found on the official Facebook site here.
